About This Listing

I think this is a 1965 or 1966 model. Excellent condition for its age and the finish is still very good. Don’t think it got played that much and must have lived most of its life in its case. It comes with its original case. Case is also in good condition for its age, latches a bit rusty/tarnished but completely functional etc.

All original except someone put an extra toggle in at one stage and then removed it leaving a very small hole. Otherwise it looks completely unmolested. Recently setup by Clem Roux a great luthier from Weave Guitars in Byron Bay and she’s singing like a bird again.

This particular Mosrite model is not that well known and probably rarer than the Mosrite Ventures models. I’m not sure how many of these Semie Moseley made but it really showcases his skills as a luthier. It’s actually a semi acoustic model without F-holes like a ES-335 or Gretsch. The back is made from a beautiful piece of hollowed out black walnut with a thick German carved Sitka Spruce cap. The Sitka Spruce is breathtaking. Hard to get these old growth timber anymore as we’ve overlogged the crap out of most of the planets forests now.

Rosewood fretboard. Typical small Mosrite sped frets and narrow width fretboard with zero fret brass nut. Frets are still good and as I said it looks like it hasn’t been played that much.

I’ve owned it a couple years but I’ve realised I just love playing my Strat and it’s time to move this old girl on as she’s still living life in her case and needs some play time or failing that hung on a wall somewhere for people to admire.

Pretty special and especially pretty guitar. Second photo shows it next to my Mosrite Ventures Mark V so you can see how much bigger it is.

For those who don’t know Joe Maphis was an absolute wizard guitar player back in the day and a contemporary of Chet Atkins, Les Paul etc. YouTube some vids of him and you’ll see what I mean.

Happy to courier world wide with insurance at your expense and I’ll wrap it like a champion.

I’ll post some more photos when I get a chance
