Shimmer reverb — the effect of pitch-shifted frequencies being fed back into a reverb to create those ascending, ethereal halos around sustained notes — has been a studio trick since the early '80s. The Cloak puts that on a pedalboard in a format you can actually dial in live.

The pedal combines a reverb with a pitch-shifting feedback path. The Shimmer control blends in the octave-up content, the Size controls the reverb decay, and the Mix knob lets you run from fully dry to fully wet. At low shimmer settings it's a reverb with an unusual amount of harmonic depth. Push the shimmer up and the sound builds into that characteristic rising wash that fills the space around every note you play.
