Custom Built Ray Gun J5 Obeche / Maple Burl body Maple / Ebony Neck DiMarzio PUs

Here is a wonderful chance to get yourself a one of a kind, hand cut and impressive custom guitar, this J5 inspired build has been put together by some great names in the custom guitar world - the wood was cut and neck set by Dave Seuf, original owner / builder of Seuf guitars, finish work is by Shaun Penechar, current partner at Fountain City Guitar Works and probably the best finish guy around. The final assembly and set up is by Frank Trowbridge, a giant in field.

The guitar has come home to KC - now for sale on consignment at our shop, Music Gear. 

The build is the brain child of our client, who designed, and first approached Dave to start cutting and building a few years ago. Shortly after Dave finished the body and neck work he retired, handing Seuf's guitars to Marq and Shaun - Shaun did the finish work here in our shop, where they had a short residency before moving to their new home in downtown KC. Then the guitar was sent out to Trowbridge, where he installed the final pieces and set it up.

The body is modeled after a Teisco J5, it is a single slab of chambered Obeche with a 3/8'' book matched Maple Burl cap - the burl selected for this project was over 150 years old. The neck is a nice piece of flame maple, with a hand sanded profile going from a V to a softer C up the neck. It has an ebany fretboard, hip shot hard ware, custom knobs and DiMarzio (DP162KB) pickups with coil splits. It's set with a three way switch and a volume and tone pot for each pickup. 
The guitar is in excellent shape, it has seen near to no play - mostly friends of the owner / shop that just had to give it a strum. It comes in a solid vintage case, good handle and latches and a good fit for such a specific body style.
