This is a rare early model Steinberger L2 bass. These Brooklyn labeled Steinberger L2 basses are considered by many bass afficiandos to be the best built and best sounding Steinberger basses that were ever manufactured. The L2 basses have some features that differentiate them from the later XL2 versions. The most obvious is the fact that the faceplate mounting bolts are installed through the front of the bass. Also, the battery cover is a larger sized oval plastic affair which is held in place with two flathead screws. The stick-on logo is complete and intact on this fine example. This bass was just restored and set-up by Jeff Babicz, who was the former head of production at the Steinberger Sound factory in Newburgh, N.Y.
This bass is in gorgeous condition and it would make a great addition to any fan's Steinberger collection. Now that the complete restoration and set-up work has been done, this bass should need no any further attention for the next 25 years. A perfect playing bass that's just been serviced by the world's top Steinberger tech, it now plays and performs as well as (or probably better than) the day that it first left the factory. It's complete except for the "always missing" pop-out legrest. A superb playing and sounding bass, and a great long-term investment. This Steinberger L2 bass will ship in its original Steinberger gig-bag with a new black cotton strap and a copy of Jeff's work-order. Purchasing your Steinberger from a trusted source is critical when dealing with these rare and collectable instruments.
