Kiln Dried Box Elder Maple Bookmatched Acoustic Back & Sides - (#1 of 3)

For sale is a bookmatched set of kiln-dried Box Elder Maple back & sides. The side pieces are about 36.75 x 4.5 x 0.25 inches and the back pieces are about 21 x 9 x 0.25 inches. These pieces are over-dimensioned and will require further planing & sanding.

I purchased a beautiful, massive slab of kiln dried Box Elder from a US lumber mill , and cut three complete sets of acoustic back & sides from it. Extremely light weight and easy to work with. This set was cut from a single, solid slab of Box Elder and you’ll likely never find another specimen as stunning as these! The beautiful pink streaks produced by this species of wood is actually a defense mechanism in response to a species of insect that lives in the tree (notice the cool, black burrowing patterns in the wood!); it is extremely rare to find a piece of Box Elder with this much pink figuring that hasn’t lost its structural integrity from the insects. In addition to this, the slab of Box Elder this set was sourced from was kiln dried to remove any moisture and sap, stabilize the wood, and reduce its overall weight in the process.
