Tokai's replica of the electric guitar, named the "Les Paul Reborn" model, started in 1978. By 1980, the name was changed to "Reborn Old" and later to its current name, "Love Rock". The name change was in response to threats from American guitar companies to go to court to protect their . This 2002 mint condition Love rocket has an etched serial number and was MIJ. The top finish is absolutely breathtaking and it has rich dark brown sides and bottom with tortoise shell binding. It has an etched serial number on the back of the red Gibson style open book headstock. It has been said by many that the early 1980's MIJ Tokai LP copies were the equal of those made in Kalamazoo! Tokai Gakki still makes Tokai guitars today and this example proves that they are one of the reasons Gibson filed lawsuits and started making the Orville by Gibson in Japan for sale in Japan. Needless to say, it has a great sound.
