1920s The Bacon  Blue Ribbon... Made in Groton, Connecticut!

Yup, Groton, Connecticut! I have never seen a finer example!

A wicked sweet early 1920s Bacon and Day Blue Ribbon Style A tenor banjo serial number 7648. The rim is natural maple and is in outstanding condition. The rim is fitted with the 40 hole Silver Bell tone ring, so you can imagine the sound from this banjo. All of the hardware is nickel-plated with 28 brackets. The two-piece maple neck is lightly figured maple, with ebonized veneers and back stripes . The fingerboard is rosewood with wonderful simple inlays and an ebonized peghead overlay with an excellent inlaid abalone script “Bacon Blue Ribbon”!

The tuning pegs are the original Grovers with ivoroid buttons. Beautiful!

Oh, and check out the Oettinger tailpiece!  In the early 1920s an American named Mark A. Oettinger came up with a design that allowed the downward pressure of individual strings to be adjusted. It was both beautiful and functional and it has, over the years, become iconic. Some consider it the ultimate piece of banjo bling. Original Oettinger tailpieces can command prices of over $500!

The neck is straight with good frets – showing very little fretboard wear. The push on spun maple resonator carries a nickel medallion beautifully engraved with “The Bacon” in fancy script.

Short-Scale Tenor Banjo with 21" Scale.
11 1/2" Rim with Silver Bell Tone-Ring and snap-in back.

Excellent condition and in the original Koverite hard case.

Check out the pics... because they don't lie. Like always! The condition is, well, check out the pics!

Shipping quoted is to you in the CONUS, as always... includes the original Koverite hard shell case in pretty good condition.

Hey make me an offer... I just might take it. Ya never know!
