This is a very unique stave snare drum. Mesquite wood, usually reserved for making delicious smoked BBQ meats, is being utilized in whole different way here. It's used to balance out the Cherry, which is a very dense and hard wood species, acting is a bit of a built-in equalizer for the tone of the snare drum.
