All Things Reconsidered Aluminum Neck "Alembic" Tribute 2022 Natural

From my small shop in Tallahassee, FL comes this Alembic tribute style guitar.

It is all handcarved and everything was done without large power tools.

The "Moon" style cutout on the left side serves as weight relief and a great armrest!

This guitar has naturally occuring blemishes and minor tooling marks.

The guitar is made from three pieces of wood, two pieces of Ambrosia Maple and one piece of Cherry.   The finish is a French polish style shellac and hand rubbed boiled linseed oil. Many hours of sanding took place to get the finish just right. It is not perfect, there are imperfections.

The guitar has been professionally setup and modified by me. There are some marks and pitting on the fretboard itself as seen in images. I have leveled crowned and polished the frets and fret ends The neck plays swift and smooth, it was made by McCauley Nonferrous Metals out of Virginia serial number 003. They use 100% recycled alumnium, as you can see with the blemishes near the upper frets bass side. It is solid aluminum construction.

Active EMG 89r electronics were mounted in a custom "Rick Turner" style soundhole. Pushed down is a single coil sound and pulled up is the humbucker. An amazing tone and sustain with the aluminum neck paired with active electronics.

The master volume knob is a vintage Raytheon knob like Jerry Garcia used on his Alligator guitar. 

Many design elements Alembic used over the years were an inspiration for this build. I added the Aluminum neck to aid in sustain and note separation and it sounds amazing. Nice and bright very articulate. Also a nod to Travis Bean guitars.

Various blemishes are pictured, I hand shaped everything. The neck pocket is sound but it isnt the prettiest. Check the images its just a tad big on the bottom there, and some on the side, neither effects the guitars performance. No nonsense, just a master volume. The input is a stereo EMG jack. The cavity is shielded and the backplate was carved from pine. It sits on top of the body, it is not perfect either.

This guitar plays absolutely great with medium action as seen in the images, 2.25 mm low E, 1.75mm high E with Slinky 10s. Plays very fast, this neck is completely awesome. The neck is straight as an arrow and does not have a truss rod. The nut is an adjustable brass nut. The tuners are locking black Sperzel.

The three barrel Wilkinson tele bridge setup works great with this setup, there is room either way for adjustment. Intonation is spot on.

There is a cedar shim in the neck pocket to get everything perfect, great neck angle.

As with any guitar, you may want to get it setup to your own preferences and or string gauge.

The body is modeled after various Alembic guitars, "the pretzel", "the peanut" and other early models were studied before I built this guitar.

I hand carve the wood bodies myself. The body is highly shaped and has curves in all the right places!

There are various cosmetic blemishes all over the instrument,  please look closely and ask any questions.

The scale length is 25 1/2. Like a Stratocaster.

8.5 pounds. (mostly neck) Ha!
