For the real PRS collectors out there, here is a unicorn if there was ever one! This is an "award series" number 2 out of 20 from 1990 custom 24. It is so rare it even had PRS stumped! But here's what I know about it:
The guitar is in excellent condition and you may find a blemish here or there but it will be hard. Frets are 100 percent.
Weighs 7 lbs. 6 oz.
It plays and sounds KILLER, setup with NYXL 10-46BT right now and I can't believe how good it sounds.
If you want one of the rarest PRS guitars from the Virginia Ave. factory this is it!
- looks like a limited edition from that same time period with a gold tune o matic bridge
- maple neck! serial number is unorthodox as it starts with a 7, as that is usually seen on CE models at the time, but I believe now means "maple neck"
- moon inlays
- most likely Brazlilian Rosewood fretboard but can't be 100 percent
- chambered mahogany body
- five way rotary switch
- tone knob instead of sweet switch
- flame maple top (can't be 100 percent as the limited editions used all kinds of top woods)?
- limited edition pickups
- PRS hand signed headstock logo (just like the limited editions)
- most likely a small run to dealers for superior sales, and honestly it appears to be a one off run
- final check was done by John Ingram!
