This all-original 1978 Fender Musicmaster bass has recently been inspected and set up by a local master luthier, and it's sporting a set of
medium gauge (45-105)
DR HI-BEAM short-scale strings with lots of life left in them--played just enough since restringing to get 'em settled nicely. ;) MusicMister, as I call him, has been kept nice and clean and has been well-maintained for the past several years. I'm not sure what his life was like before the fateful day I acquired him, but he's certainly been spoiled since he's lived with me!
These sturdy little basses were manufactured back when all Fender guitars were products of the good ol' USA, and they were marketed toward beginning players. Musicmasters were constructed from a unique combination of parts from Mustang basses and guitars, including a single-coil six pole guitar pickup. They feature an alder body; glossy, medium-sized, C-shaped maple neck; and a rosewood fretboard. They are considered a 3/4 scale bass, 30" in length from bridge to nut. They weigh just over 9 pounds and may be used for self-defense in the middle of a set without going out of tune! (haha)
I've done my best to accurately document the condition of the finish, tuning keys, and bridge. This bass functions quite well with cosmetic wear being the only potential downside. This is, after all, a vintage bass that's brought joy to lovers of the low end for nearly 45 years, so li'l MusicMister has a coupla dings and could use a right proper polishing.
Open to reasonable offers, and I would ADORE the opportunity to sell this bass locally - Salt Lake City, UT - to avoid shipping (I'll knock significant $ off the listed price for local pickup!).
