About This Listing

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very unique General Electric 97U20 model controlled reluctance microphone based on the more common Shure Brothers 510C model "Hercules". This 97U20 which comes with an original short cable.

Pic # 2 is from an old Shure catalog showing this very model mic and it's basic characteristics.

It should be noted right away that this microphone had a longer 7 foot cable but the cable was quite damaged in several spots so I shortened it and applied a period male 1/4 inch end connector on the end. The microphone also does not work as the original element was missing when I got it. This mic should be used only for display, prop or modification purposes.

This General Electric 97U20 model came with it's own distinct blue grey / paint scheme and General Electric badge and insignia. Otherwise the all metal body was identical to the Shure model sold. The painted body on this mic shows typical wear. Very tiny paint chips and scratches. There was some yellow tape residue on the front grill that I did not notice until after the pics were taken. I was able to remove some of that residue after the pics were taken. The up close pics show far more detail than what you'll see when holding the mic in your hand.

This little mic has a bit of weight to it. The original grey colored cloth screen has zero rips or discoloration. It's appx 4 inches tall (with the lower adapter attached) X 2 1/2 inches wide. The Shure badge and logo are still present and show zero wear. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. This mic was designed to sit on it's own or to be mounted to a taller desk or floor stand. This example does not have the adapter attached to the bottom of the mic so it will have to sit on it's own without a stand.

The mic has a short cable that's just 6 inches in length. It's still soft and pliable. Again, comes with the vintage female 1/4 inch end connector that shows very lite wear.

The 97U20 is an easy 6 on  a scale of 1 - 10. This will make a great display piece for any mic collection.

             And as always...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. International buyers are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and item relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
