Franz Sandner
Violin-Maker
Deutschland
Franz Sandner is a family of musical instrument producers from Schönbach, Germany, that has a history of nearly 100 years and remains successful and well known throughout the world today. This violin represents a rare early violin made by Franz Sandner during the pre-war dacades, either in the late 1920s or the 1930s, as indicated by its DEUTSCHLAND label. The violin has a medium-warm, well balanced tone and features beautiful flamed maple back, sides and neck.
The violin is in good vintage condition. It has no identifiable cracks or other structural defects. It is in very good vintage condition cosmetically (please review the images carefully). Equipped with brand new Dominant strings and Wittner fine tuner. Play-ready.
The violin is sold as instrument only (comes with a vintage wood core case that dates back to approximately the 1970s, but no other accessories are included). If you need accessories, please feel free to inquire - I can offer a good selection at favorable prices.
FRANZ SANDNER VIOLINS
Franz Sandner founded his violin making business in Schönbach, Germany in 1924. Located just 10 miles south from Markneukirchen and once dubbed the "Austrian Cremona" (when Bohemia was part of Austria-Hungary), Schönbach at the time was a famous and thriving violin making town. Because Franz Sandner instruments had a precise design and warm tone, the company became well-known and soon sold its violins throughout Germany and worldwide. After the Second World War, the Sandner factory moved to Nauheim due to the new border between Germany and Czechia. Franz Sandner’s daughter Sonja and her husband Richard Schuh joined the company in 1958. Today, Franz Sandner Co. sells instruments ranging from student to professional grade in 60 countries worldwide.
