About This Listing

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very unique Shure Brothers 510C model "Hercules" controlled reluctance microphone variant which was sold under license to General Electric and marketed for sale to the general public as the rebadged CR88B model which comes with an original robin blue paint and short cable.

Pic # 2 is from an old Shure catalog showing this very model mic and it's basic characteristics.

It should be noted right away that this microphone had a longer 7 foot cable but the cable was quite damaged in several spots so I shortened it and applied a period Cannon female XLR end connector on the end.

Also, this microphone no longer has the original element inside the housing as it was removed at some point in time. This mic is currently non-working and should be used as a display, prop or repair piece only. You can always put another element inside if you so choose and the cable is wired correctly so a new element would make this a working unit again.

Not the prettiest example but still very good looking and priced very cheap due to the condition.

This little mic has a bit of weight to it. The black colored cloth screen has zero rips or holes and no discoloration. It's appx 4 inches tall (with the lower adapter attached) X 2 1/2 inches wide. The G.E badge and logo are still present and show very lite wear. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. This mic was designed to sit on it's own or to be mounted to a taller desk or floor stand. This example does not have the adapter attached to the bottom of the mic so it will have to sit on it's own without a stand. A new felt pad was applied as the original was completely gone.

The mic has a short cable that's just 5 inches in length. It's still soft and pliable. Comes with the vintage female Cannon XLR end connector that shows typical lite wear. Simply insert any longer male XLR cable of choice for show and you are good to go!

The CR88B is an easy 7 on  a scale of 1 - 10. This will make a great display piece for any mic collection.

             And as always...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. International buyers are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and item relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
