The time has come that comes for most dads - the kids need their own rooms and I'm getting displaced :-) So I'm thinning the collection to accomodate my new space limitations. For this listing, I'm selling my 2006 Gibson J-45 Standard with Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. I purchased the guitar used from the original buyer in 2008. The guitar includes original case, paperwork, and bill of sale.
It's been played lightly and never much by me, I'm more of an electric player, and I kept it in the case at all times. The frets have a lot of life in them. It's set up for low action with slight relief in the neck and light gauge strings. I had a professional luthier replace the original nut with an unbleached bone nut that's in great shape and gives the guitar excellent action in the lower frets. I'll include a couple of under-the-saddle shims if you like the action a little higher.
The neck has a thinner 60's style neck with 12" radius and rosewood fingerboard. It also includes the factory under-the-saddle pickup system with sound-hole volume control. The battery pack is inside the soundhole behind the neck.
Note: The guitar has a top crack repair in the lower bout that's approximately 8.25 inches long, hence the condition of "Good", but everything else it excellent condition, which I think would make it closer to player's grade. The repaired crack is straight and along the grain, and runs from the bridge behind the high E string to the binding. The original owner said the humidity for the guitar got too high, causing the crack. The original owner had the crack professionally repaired before I bought it. The repair is visable, but was done well, leaving only a very thin blemish running along the grain of the repair. The repair has been stable since I bought it and doesn't impact playability or tone. I'll include the receipt for the repair which includes the info about the shop that performed the work.
It's a great sounding and playing guitar. A great chance to get a professional grade instrument at player's grade price. You won't have to worry as much about taking it out or it getting dinged and scratched.
If you have any questions or would like additional images, please let me know. And apologies for the picture quality not being great. I had limited time. I'm happy to provide additional images - just message me. Thanks for looking.
