Up for sale, a circa 1966 Vox Mark VI Teardrop in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original case and 100% original save for a professional refret. One of the rarer and more upscale models Vox offered for a few brief years in the mid-60s, the Mark VI features Vox's signature teardrop body shape. Loaded with the trio of original Vox single coil pickups, the Mark VI delivers chewy sparkle and snap in the bridge position, dry, percussive cut in the middle, and a sweet, mellow tone from the neck position coil, with a bit of bark when you dig in hard. Weighing 8lbs 14oz, we've dialed in this Vox here to perfection at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders, measuring .790" deep at the 1st fret and .890" at the 12th. A reliable studio and stage instrument, this Vox has received all the maintenance typically due a vintage Vox, and the ebony fretboard has been planed and refretted with slender vintage-spec 6230-size fretwire, offering consistent action and effortless playability. The scale length measures a full 25 1/4", and fretboard width just forward of the nut at the zero fret measures 1.675". The headstock retains the original set of Vox-embossed tuners which still turn smoothly and function well even with liberal vibrato use, along with the tiny "Made in Italy" silkscreen text.

All of the original electronics function as intended, with a Strat-style layout, three-way pickup selector switch, and original complement of smooth, chrome-plated knobs. Controls include a Master Volume and dedicated Tone controls for the Middle and Neck position single coils. The hardware includes the roller bridge, original small diameter vibrato spring, and the vibrato unit itself, with an arm that is elevated far enough off the body for broad gestures. The vibrato is very responsive, actuating with a light touch and jumping back to the original pitch with ease. The chrome plating on all hardware is extremely clean, and plastics include the stock elevated three-ply pickguard.

The original gloss three-tone Sunburst finish exhibits scattered dings, largely on the body perimeter and clustered on the treble-side edge, and light wear on the edges of the snap-on back pad. There are also a few isolated spots of the broad finish checking so common with Italian Vox guitars. The ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is nigh flawless.

The original hardshell case is included, featuring the original latches and handle, a clean gray exterior with white piping, and gold plush interior.
