About This Listing

Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome.

You are looking at a vintage 1977 Electro Voice model DS-35 dynamic cardioid microphone that comes with an original E.V 311 model mic clip, data sheet, exterior foam pop filter and vintage E.V mic case. This rugged classic microphone was made by E.V in the U.S.A for almost 30 years before being discontinued and was a high quality model used for several applications.

Pic # 2 is the actual data sheet you'll be getting showing the mics basic specs and technical characteristics.

Tons of info that will come in handy getting to know everything about his classic mic. The data sheet is in very good overall condition and completely legible. I have been told by several singers who have used both the RE-16 and DS-35 that they actually prefer the sound of the DS-35 better. The DS-35 has a flatter response than the RE-16. This is a great mic for toms / drums as well.

The E.V DS-35 is a light weight microphone set at 150 OHMS (Medium to Low impedance) and it has a smooth, warm tone that's excellent for broadcasting and singing. This was basically an RE-16 model mic without the bass adjustment lever and again, flatter response.

It's also uni-directional picking up only your voice directly in front of the screen and cancelling out unwanted background noise. The DS-35 is one of the better uni-directional mics I have personally heard.

It has a stronger signal when using the cable with the male 1/4 inch. The XLR to XLR cables just don't work as good.  Nothing some good gain won't solve though. Again, it has a much stronger signal when used with a 1/4 inch cable.

I don't know the first year this was introduced but it seems to have started production in the late 1970's to the early 2000's before being discontinued.

The black exterior foam pop filter fits the mic nicely and adds an extra barrier of protection when speaking into the mic. You'll have zero "pops" or unwanted feedback. You don't have to use it of course but its there for you if you do.

It should be noted that this mic has the new upper and lower inner foam liners. These inner foam screens greatly help with the acoustics of the mic as well as keeping the lower screen steady. The foam is in great shape and will last for several decades to come. The foam / pop filter cuts down any unwanted feedback due to wind or breathing. The foam needs to be replaced on all of these older DS-35 mics so keep that in mind if you buy another example from another buyer.

The mic measures 7 1/2 inches long and 1 3/4 wide at the screen. Very light and versatile. The only real wear on this mic is on the handle as there is lite discoloration on one side of it. It's very subtle and won't even be noticed from more than a couple feet away. No fractures, dents or missing paint.

I'd give the mic a solid 8 physically on a scale of 1 - 10. The real beauty is that sound it produces. The mic takes a standard XLR cable which is not included.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              The Electro Voice 311 model mic clip is also included and it grips the mic nicely allowing for a wide range of tilt up and down. The clip will screw on to any microphone desk or floor stand. The clip has the adjustable tension via side screw.  The clip is in perfect physical condition as well.
The E.V mic box is included as well and in very good overall physical condition. It's quite large and has room for the mic and all of it's accessories including the cable. There is a new foam pad to keep the mic safe and snug. Just typical lite physical wear on the outside of the box but an excellent accessory to have.
The cable is included as well to operate this DS-35. It's 20 feet in length. Soft, pliable and free of damage. It has a male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers.
If you demand an excellent working DS-35 to use frequently...this is your mic.
MICROPHONE STAND IS FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY...NOT PART OF THIS SALE.

As with all my vintage microphones...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The return shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating.
