One of the rarest of the rare...a Requisite Audio Engineering Green Man as used by Ry Cooder. Not a clone, not a copy...the real thing from the same builder as his.
So rare in fact that most aren't even sure what it does. Here's my take: A tube preamp that adds a noticeable polish to your tone (even with very high-end amps). The volume will go from unity to zero to a sizable amount of boost (not sure of the amount but it will make a completely clean amp fully distorted if that is the goal. The tone knob has a ton of usable range and at the highest settings adds gain like the tone knob of a tweed amp. Also has two outs with a phase switch on both.
How would you use it?
As a boost/EQ to perfectly match your guitar to the sweet spot of your amp.
As an overdrive (with the tone near max) that gives a dynamic amp tone without having to be loud. The Green Man is very good at this...you can see what amp it is sitting on in the pics and it holds it own with that amp.
As an attenuator/boost/EQ to match different guitars to an amp or amps without having to adjust the amps themselves.
As a splitter to enhance/smooth a two-amp setup (I believe this is the use case for Ry Cooder where he gets the two amps balanced and then can control the overall volume and drive without having to re-balance the amps).
Cosmetically the Green Man is exactly as I received it from the builder which is to say a little bit aged looking. It's not relic'd but the case is obviously repurposed and the cosmetics reflect prior use.
The preamp will ship in the Pelican case shown in the pics.
I know the price is high so don't bother with informative messages or complaints. I paid a lot for it and waited a LONG time for it. You can also do the same or you can have this one now. Also...I padded my asking price due to the recently increased fees here on the site. I know what I want to get out of it and the only way to do that is to add the sizable chunk I know they are going to take on the top...sorry.
DO however ask whatever questions you might have...I welcome all serious inquiries.
Free shipping to the lower 48. I will ship elsewhere but I will have to check the shipping before I agree to ship for free. The Green Man in the case doesn't weigh much so it probably wouldn't be too terrible. Pick-up is available from the MetroDC area.
I did not manufacture this item and as such cannot provide a warrantee so it is sold AS IS. I guarantee the preamp is fully functional and will film a full function check prior to shipment. Any issues after the sale will have to be addressed to the manufacturer.
