This is a super killer and unique guitar! Super stunning 1986 Squier E Series from the golden age of Japanese guitar making. Plays like a dream, pickups sound insanely clear and articulate, lightning fast neck that's straight as a razor, great color, it's an awesome guitar!

This era of Fender was maybe not the best for Fender in general, but the guitars they were making in Japan from this time are so awesome. This guitar is very crisp and refreshing to play, feels like biting into a fresh apple right off of the tree. Razor sharp intonation, stays in tune for days, low action but with still tons of aggressive bite for heavy rhythm playing, it's just an awesome guitar. Really great Sultans of Swing type of guitar with precision and bite. The neck is beautiful and inspiring, it has that very classic MIJ Fender feel up by the nut that I've really yet to find on any others that they've ever made. Very comfortable F chord down at the nut that continues perfectly as you advance up the neck. There's something about this neck shape that's just perfect. That color is so awesome! I love it especially against the black pickguard. Definitely gives me some Daft Punk vibes on this guitar, I can picture Nile Rodgers playing epic rhythm with Daft Punk on this! The pickups sound awesome. These are gold EMG's from 2001 with a professional wiring harness, and they sound super rich and full. I'm not totally an active pickups person through and through, but they have their merits and they most definitely have their place. If you've ever recorded guitar DI before for big thick DI tones like Nile Rodgers plugging straight into the mixing board, these pickups are the way to go. They're crystal clear, huge tonal spectrum, and totally whisper quiet. They sound killer through an amp as well of course, but they record DI better than any other pickup. There's a battery tucked away neatly under the pickguard, its not hard to get to and these pickups are pretty energy efficient and the battery doesn't need to be changed too often. They have the huge soaring David Gilmore tone when pushed through an amp where you can hear absolutely every little nuance of the string. There's a little Johnny Greenwood tone in there, he used Lace Sensors and these have that vibe as well.

I love the Squier E Series that were made in Japan in the 80's, and this is one of the best ones that I've had in. One of my main strats is an Olympic white E series, and this is the only other one that's been able to stand up to that one. When these are set up right I've found that they're so bouncy and vibrant, super springy string response and just great instruments to play. Super lightweight and great feeling on the strap, they give me everything that I want out of a good Fender. My main guitars are all from this exact same factory and era of Fender Japan, I didn't plan it out like that but they just totally rule!

Overall this one is in great condition. The frets are seriously at 90%! It's as if it were never played! The tuners and all the bridge pieces are all original and present, and that color is just so rad. There's a battle scar on the very tip of the headstock, but it's nothing too crazy. I'm not sure if that whammy bar is original. It's a little shallow in its angle so it's best used just for small movements, but it still works and is totally effective. The back plate is missing, but if the Eric Johnson strat has taught us anything it's that the backing plate is definitely an optional accessory lol. Great sounding and feeling strat!
