Martin Style 1K Soprano Ukulele 1927-1931

A great sounding 1K Martin koa ukulele from the late 1920's.

There is a repaired top crack starting behind the bridge's first string to the bottom of the uke. There is also a 4" well-repaired back crack on the treble lower bout. This uke had some water damage at one time in its past, and the stains are still evident at the bottom edge of the top, and on the sides at the bottom edge of the uke. The finish was compromised in these areas. Consequently the entire body of the ukulele was French polished to reseal these areas. The thin shellac-French polishing was done by Hill Guitar Company in Ben Lomond, California - a maker of fine hand-made classical guitars. The French polish was applied over the original finish, so as to preserve as much of the original finish as possible.

This uke has a straight neck, original bridge, original friction machine heads, rosewood binding, and original bar frets. The neck is straight, the action is perfect, and the instrument is very resonant with tremendous volume. This great sounding Martin uke is sold with a newer padded bag.
