Up for sale, a 1983 Greco BK-1200 8-string bass in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A custom ordered model, this neck through bass was crafted at the famed Fujigen factory in Japan, clearly taking its design cues from Alembic. The bass boasts seven-ply maple/walnut neck through construction and a pair of imposing T-Bird humbuckers. With a body constructed of mahogany and maple, and a thick slab ebony fingerboard, this bass has a rich natural resonance with plenty of sustain, muscle and tonal complexity. The ebony fretboard ensures a glassy note attack and plenty of detail too. The pair of T-bird humbuckers are wound to a robust 9.8k ohms in both positions, and there's a distinct, usable sound in every position on the four-way rotary pickup selector switch. The bass weighs 9lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation.

The seven-ply neck is constructed of maple and walnut, with a C-shaped profile carve that's slender in overall depth, yet with full shoulders that give the illusion of a deeper neck shape, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and .940" at the 12th. The ebony fretboard has intricate pearl inlay more at home on a '40s Gibson archtop than this pummeling Doom and Prog Rock machine, and the original frets have ample meat and crown, playing cleanly in every register. The scale length is a compact 30 1/2", and the nut measures 1 11/16" in width. The headstock features "The Greco" inlay along with an original engraved truss rod cover and gold Greco-branded tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The L83-prefix serial number dates to December of 1983.

The electronics function as intended, with dedicated Volume and Tone knobs for each humbucker, along with a traditional 1/4" output and additional five-pin connection akin to Alembic (the bass has been tested with the mono 1/4" output only). The humbuckers feature black metal covers and matching surrounds, and the four-saddle heavy duty top-loader bridge has only a light dusting of patina on the gold plating. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish is limited to just a few minor marks and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole, while the gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

The original faux leather form-fit gigbag is included.
