1980 Tokai ES-100 Blonde

Here we have an uncommon Blonde Tokai ES-100 from 1980. This model was the top of the ES model line for Tokai in 1980.

The ES-100s of the era were built to exacting standards using some gorgeously figured maple for the body finished in lacquer.

The playability is outstanding and the tone is exactly what I've come to expect from a good 335. The weight and neck size and shape is perfect, IMO. The measurements are:

Weight is 8.2 pounds

Neck Width - 1.63" at the nut, 2.04" at the 12th fret

Neck Depth - 0.83" at the 1st fret, 1.01" at the 12th fret

The pickups are not original, they are a set of Duncan Alnico IIs.

The only issue is a repaired small crack (about 1 inch) at the nut on the side of the neck, which you can see in the pictures. I had this examined by a professional repair person, and while he thought it was perfectly stable, he did push a little glue and clamp it down. It's important to note that this is not a full break, just a small repaired crack. There is also a small crack in the cutout (see pic)

Other than than the repair, the guitar exhibits only normal playwear for a 40 year old guitar. The hardware and pickup covers do have some tarnish and pitting.

I have no hard case for this guitar, but will pack it in a nice padded semi-soft Roadrunner case. It's a tight fit, but will give the guitar protection for shipping and storage.
