Initial assessment:
-Intermittent output
-Hum at output
-Fm does not go into stereo
-Loose volume pot
-Several cracked solder joints on amp board and power supply
-Multiple display bulbs need replacement
Service:
-Resoldered 10-15 suspect solder joints (input jacks, grounds, regulators)
-Inspect amp board for burning or corrosion: good
-Cleaned fuses and tightened fuse holders
-Junction tested all amp board transistors and bias diodes: good
-Checked all P.S voltages
-Replaced output relay with high amp contact Omeron MY2 relay
-Completely recapped (all electrolytic caps) on amp board with nichicon low esr
-Recapped all secondary and third order P.S filtration capacitors
-Recapped phono board and tone amp board
-Cleaned all controls and switches with Deoxit, and finished by applying R100 to prevent future oxidation
-Calibrated bias and dc offset
-FM alignment
-Replaced all front panel incandescent bulbs with “Soft blue” LEDs, and replaced all failed indicator bulbs.
-Tightened nuts on all controls
-Cosmetic cleaning of face and back panel connectors
-Final bench test: ran unit with speakers for 3 hours
