1985 Fender Performer
Hello fellow rock enthusiasts,
It seems to be time to sell my 1985 Fender Performer.
This guitar is incredibly rare. The neck is perfectly straight, and the action is by far the lowest and most enjoyable I’ve ever felt and played. At nearly 40 years old, it is in excellent condition only showing some wear on the back of the neck. It has the system one tremolo (zero pitting- looks absolutely brand new) which is, in my opinion, the best tremolo system ever built. The system one tremolo is designed with a locking bridge and fine tuning pegs on the saddle for highly accurate precision tuning, allowing for divebombs without any worries of falling out of tune. You can even drop D with just a twist of the tuning peg if you set it up with enough room, or add a fine tuner extender. You may see some other Fender Performers out there, but they will almost never have the original tremolo arm. It also has a 24 fret fretboard. Think of everything you love about a loaded PRS, Gibson and Fender, and you’ll find it on this guitar, and more.
This guitar comes standard with the worlds first built-in true split coil switch, and two massive slanted dual encased ceramic high output humbuckers. It also came with one of the first TBX (treble bass expander) potentiometers.
Here is what’s inside:
A new paint job (Lake Placid Blue)
Fully restored 24 fret stainless steel fretboard
Fully rewired components w/ battery install
Stereo 1/4” jack (from mono)
The knobs were taken off and kept in a plastic bag, so they are actually white and look/ feel new- unbelievably rare
The top dial is a 5 way (1-5 on the knob) battery powered onboard distortion switch. 1 (standard) - 5 (full overdrive distortion/ crunch)
The middle dial is an Emg PA2 volume boost overdrive- push standard volume 1-10 / pull is a full 0-10 clean volume boost
The bottom dial is a stock stacked tone dial (TBX) pot that is a full tuning dial from 1-5 and from 5-10 it boosts the high and low range
The bottom 3rd knob was added and modeled to resemble the 1985 fender performer bass
The split coil switch was relocated for faster access
Three way toggle switch
Original tremolo arm
3 original F cap knobs
Perri’s black leather oiled guitar strap
New half wound guitar strings
It comes with a Gator TSA locking case - the best there is- and a perfect fit!
The rest is up to you.
I am proud to pay anything to bring amazingly rare guitars to life. Take a look at the last beauty I created and sold on my profile and you’ll see what I mean.
Think of the possibilities: with or without added pedals you can distort, you can max out the highs/lows with the stacked pot, switch to a Gibson sound/feel with the split coil switch, or stay with the classic fender sound, you can pull the volume knob and play with the 1-10 roll dial volume boost, and/ or you can use one of the five onboard distortion turn dial overdrive effects, you also have endless divebombs with a system one tremolo, and your tuning is locked in. Or, you can drop D on the fly. All of this on an near perfect 24 stainless steel fret 1985 Fender Performer. Check out the YouTube videos and fall in love with this guitar as I did.
Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have. If this guitar calls to you, and you are ready to own the one guitar that rules them all— send me a message. Cheers
