Deimel Guitarworks Bluestar Model Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar (2020), made in Markische Hohe, Germany, serial # 13, natural finish, Spruce body, walnut neck, original molded black plastic hard shell case. Deimel guitars are each unique, hand built to the highest quality standards by German Luthier Frank Deimel. This BlueStar Semi Hollow Body is the most recent model in the Deimel line, a unique modern twist on vintage offset aesthetics originally developed for Finnish jazz guitarist Kalle Kalima. This Guitar features a carved semi hollow, thermo treated Alpine Spruce body and a Black Walnut neck with an ebony fingerboard. The slightly deeper offset body has considerable areas carved away inside, making it extremely comfortable both seated or standing and balanced with a weight of 7lbs 2oz. The finish is very thin, in the more satin mode. It really shows off the spruce which has a lovely bear claw figure offset by the Arctic Blue acrylic pick guard and back plates. This is complemented with brushed metal pickup covers, knobs and Mastery hardware giving a somewhat industrial vintage/modern look. The pickups are Mojo Pickups UK's Dual-Foil, Humbucking Gold Foils. They have unplated silver mesh metal surrounds that enhance the unique look. They also sound fantastic and are exceptionally versatile. Each pickup can be engaged in either single coil or humbucking mode via individual slide switches for tonal flexibility. In humbucking mode they are full, crisp and gritty with a nice spanky midrange while single coil mode offers more clarity and chime. There is a standard 3-way selector with master tone and volume provided. An additional slide switch activates another unique feature, an internal piezo pickup that amplifies the natural acoustic resonance of the body. This can be manipulated to create some surprisingly convincing archtop and acoustic tones, or percussive effects. The updated Jazzmaster style Mastery Vibrato/Bridge setup is OEM marked for Deimel; it has a very smooth action and works beautifully. On a less traditional note this is the first Deimel instrument to feature their "Tornipulator circuit", an experimentalists dream. This encompasses three pushbuttons and a tiny microphone, all situated on the upper bass bout. The first button turns on the mic, which can be used for controlled feedback and random sounds; you can even sing into it. The second button is a 60 Cycle Hum switch while the final third button is an instant kill switch, cutting the signal of the pickups. Manipulating this creatively can offer intermittent or tremolo type sounds. All in all this BlueStar is a truly unique hybrid of modern and vintage, offering a blend of sonic options useful for many different playing situations. It is a very interesting and creative take on Leo Fender's 1950s offset paradigm, taken to new places for the 21st century by the imaginative mind of Frank Deimel.Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 13 1/2 in. (34.3 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 13/16 in. (4.6 cm.) . Scale length is 25 1/2 in. (648 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). This guitar appears very little played, lightly used with just a bit of handling wear. It plays excellent and is in the original molded Deimel case with the paperwork/case candy. Near Mint Condition.
