Mosrite Ventures '65 Reissue Pearl White

Rare 1960's Mosrite vintage electric guitar in a Metallic Red finish. This is a very unique Mosrite, being that it's a mix between a Mosrite Ventures and Mosrite Combo. It has the same body shape and size as a Combo but it doesn't have F-holes or a vibrato system, just like some of the Ventures. The rosewood/aluminum hard stop tailpiece appears to be the same one used on Mosrite's other non-vibrato guitars. This does not appear to be a refinish where the holes were just filled in, it looks to have come to the factory this way based on our observations. The actual year appears to be somewhere between 1967 and 1970 based upon the logo and features, but it is difficult to be sure.

The guitar is in excellent condition and appears to be all original except for the volume and tone pot knobs. There are no major issues at all. There is very little wear for its age and only a small bit of finish checking and small typical scuffs throughout the body, mostly just on the back side. The pickguard is missing one little corner up by the neck pocket. This is a fairly bright-sounding all-maple hollowbody with a maple neck. The small neck is straight and the truss rod turns surprisingly well. The frets have been redressed at some point, but still have life in them. The action is impressive. It plays and feels a little like a Rickenbacker 360 style guitar, but sounds completely unique.

All the electronics and both pickups work fine. Both potentiometers currently work as volume knobs since the capacitor is missing from one of them, thus not allowing the tone roll off. The serial number at the end of the fretboard is gone. The inside of the neck pocket has a sticker for Jack Davenport’s Typewriter Company in Bakersfield, CA, which is where Mosrite was based at the time this was manufactured. Does not include a case.
