About This Listing

This particular Martin Masterpiece was constructed during the C.F. Martin Guitar Company's first year of what is now considered Martin's "Golden Era" of guitar production which lasted from 1930 through 1945 and was among the most ornate instruments built by the company at its time of construction and for several years to come. This particular instrument was owned by Norman Blake on the album "Chattanooga Sugar Babe" and is featured on page 218 of Washburn & Johnson's book, "Marin Guitars : An Illustrated Celebration of American Premiere Guitarmaker" as well as the 1998 Bluegrass Calendar featuring "The Martin Guitar Players of Bluegrass" for the month of March.
As far as sound and playability go, well this is difficult to put into words, but "Magical" comes to mind when strumming this relic from days past. Guitars like this only come with age and tender love and care. Meaning the particular character of this wonderful instrument has developed from a lifetime of amazing guitar players using it as a tool to create beautiful music.

At this point we consider this Guitar a piece of American History, as it has many stories that come along with it and more than enough life in it to continue on its journey of making music.

We have a lot of documentation with this instrument, ownership transfers, as well as photos of it being played by its famous owners.

This guitar will ship with both the original Hard case which you can see in the photos as well as the upgraded, more modern guitar case it is living in now.

As always please inspect the photos carefully for the best understanding of condition, but we are always available to answer any questions or concerns, just shoot us a message. We are also happy to supply you with additional photos or videos of this instrument upon request.
