Here is a 2008 Pork Pie USA 6x14 maple snare in a beautiful natural Curly Maple finish, dated October 22, 2008. At 6x14 with ten of Pork Pie’s distinctive hourglass lugs, this is a substantial but versatile wood snare with the handcrafted character associated with the company’s USA-built drums. The natural finish leaves the figured maple front and center, and the drum presents exceptionally well for its age. For the player looking for an American-made Pork Pie snare from this era rather than one of the company’s later import lines, this is a particularly clean and attractive example.

Full Description
This Pork Pie 6x14 snare was made in the USA and is dated October 22, 2008.
The drum features a maple shell with a natural Curly Maple exterior that shows off the figuring of the wood rather than hiding it beneath an opaque finish.
Pork Pie’s USA Custom drums are handmade at the company’s California factory, with founder Bill Detamore closely involved in the finishing and bearing-edge work. The company’s proprietary hourglass-shaped lugs are one of the most recognizable elements of the design.
This example uses ten hourglass lugs, providing the tuning range and stability expected from a full-size 14" snare while retaining the distinctive Pork Pie appearance.
At 6" deep, the shell sits in a useful middle ground: deeper and fuller than a conventional 5" snare without becoming as physically imposing as some 6.5" or 7" models.
The natural Curly Maple finish is the visual centerpiece of the drum. The figuring changes subtly with the light and gives the shell a warm, understated appearance that suits the straightforward USA Custom design.
This is a very clean example of a late-2000s USA-made Pork Pie snare and a good choice for someone who appreciates the company’s earlier custom-shop work.

The shell, natural finish, lugs, hoops, and hardware present very well overall, with only light signs of careful use.
The drum is fully functional and ready to play.
