Bought this amp for the sole purpose of restoring it, just because I wanted to. The speakers have been replaced with Jensens (I have the originals if wanted and not sure if they both work or not as the person that should it to me said he thought one speaker was blown.) I also put in brand new tubes. I have in various times to restore the amp, such as brand new legs, handle, etc. The board on the back used to replace the flimsy one that came with the amp, I even have the Tolex if wanted to cover it.
Crystalline, versatile, and packed to the gills with punch, the vintage Fender Twin Reverb Silverface Combo is an affordable, occasionally overlooked gem in the company's vintage roster. The loudest of the company's original line of amps, this model was designed from the ground up with hefty 6L6 tubes to fill out even the biggest stages. The Twin's dual Normal/Vibrato channel design is outfitted with three-band EQs and Bright switches for compensation at higher volumes on each side and controls for speed/intensity/reverb for lush tone on tap. Stacked with headroom, this leviathan can handle the nastiest dirtboxes with the Master volume knob (unique to the Silverface) barely past noon.
The Twin was Fender's original two 12-inch speaker tube amp launched in 1952. The original Twin was supplanted by the Twin Reverb in 1963 which has since earned a place as one of Fender's most iconic amps. Starting in the late '60s, the Twin Reverb switched from Blackface to a Silverface style cabinet. The Silverface editions are less desirable.
Years of Production: 1963 - 1982 (later reissued)
Unique to this Era: During the '70s, changes to the Twin Reverb include the inclusion of a push/pull master volume knob introduced in '76.
Notable Twin Reverb Players: John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, Jack White
