I built this one for myself, and I have to say, I'm thrilled. This amp is based on Marshall's 2204 JCM 800, an absolute classic, and far more flexible than people realize. The clean ("Low") channel is bold, round, and makes a great pedal platform. I added a cathode bypass cap to allow a little more gain out of the Low channel--with the Preamp control dimed, you can reach the edge of breakup. And the High input makes an exceptional lead channel for both single coils and humbuckers.
As with all my builds, I ensure my amps are dead quiet at idle--no hum or hiss is audible. And the master volume is excellent, making this amp as suitable for bedroom practice as it is for rocking stages.
