1976 Carvin ST2500 Solid State 125w 2x12 with Reverb & Tremolo

A real testament to legendary USA quality-built craftsmanship, this amp was just given a tune up and everything is working as it was when the amp was made in 1976. All pots are smooth and the amp has just been cleaned and gone through electronically, then fully lab tested for 12 hours.
This amp is awesome. It has Eminence Squareback 16 ohm 12" speakers dated from 1976, and they sound fantastic. They are labeled for MagnaLab, and bear corresponding serial numbers. The amp has a 17" Accutronics reverb pan, side mounted. The tremolo can be a light slow waver or a fast warble; or so deep and slow it can mask the attack of a guitar. It has a big, faraway sound. The frequencies can be easily be enhanced using the 7-band graphic equalizer section, which is quite useful for dialing in your tone just how you like it. Two of the slider knobs have gone missing, but the controls work just fine. No scratchiness. This amp would serve well for baritone guitar. When you crank up the bass, the amp responds well, and when you choose the sustain channel the low end gets loose. Sounds a little tweed-y.

We like this amp's clean tone, it is very loud and breakup comes late. Might want to tape the windows before you test this one. The cabinet measures 27x25x10, is on casters, and weighs in at 69 lbs. without packing. This is a big amp and it sounds big.

Using the "Sustain" channel, this amp absolutely sings. The overdrive sound is very good, and not surprisingly it sounds exactly like the tube-driven Carvin twin. Also equally as loud. The tone is a British sound. These amps are real beam-y at about 60 feet and could benefit from being outfitted with beam blockers. Apart from that this amp could pass for a tube amp by the sound it produces. People will want to look in the back to see if it has tubes.
What makes this amp different is those four wonderful RCA output transistors. They have a really good sound. The Carvin engineers have always been known for making quality tube amps. To our ears this amp sounds like USA quality built. We've heard many Peavey amps sound like this, some Fender amps, even some Marshall amps. Everyone can build a great sounding amp, this is an excellent example. Great tone, extremely loud--enough to fill a stadium--and totally reliable.
