Here is a beautifully designed and constructed powerhouse audio receiver, the Denon AVR-4800. This component was built in Japan under the original Denon Nippon Columbia ownership, before all the mergers and takeovers that beset Denon later. The AVR-4800 was part of Denon's special 90th Anniversary line of products built in the millennial year 2000. This great receiver has had only one previous owner and it has enjoyed a gentle life.
The AVR-4800 pushes 125 watts of continuous power at 8 ohms through five channels. If you research this model on the Internet, you'll find it is highly praised not only for its surround performance, but also for its stellar reproduction of two channel stereo music content. Vinyl lovers will appreciate the warm and detailed phono stage. And all users will appreciate that all functions can be controlled using the front panel buttons and display, you will not need to dive through multiple levels of onscreen displays just to change an FM station or adjust the tone (front panel bass & treble controls). It is remote capable, in case you want to set up a universal remote or track down the Denon original on that big Internet auction site. Denon's website has the owner's manual available as a free download.
All functions work perfectly, and it is extremely nice cosmetically, with only the most minor nicks and scuffs, as the pictures show. The AVR-4800 has old school build quality with a heavy chassis and transformer, the receiver weighs nearly 50 lbs. 8 digital audio inputs, a multi-channel input, and 11 analog inputs give you lots of freedom for system building. This is simply a great value on a hard-to-find top shelf audio classic from the peak era of Denon of Japan.
