Go ahead and laugh! This guitar is obviously kind of hilarious but in the coolest and best way.
These old Peaveys totally rule. I love how Peaveys from this era were just not remotely attempting to conform to any norms whatsoever. Peavey had that “we do our thing” kind of attitude which is baddass over someone nervously trying to jump on whatever trend was happening but always being a little too late. These guitars work amazing for angular rock a la Television and Gang of Four, where there is a somewhat jarring presence of DIY ethos that is at the same time off-putting and magnetic. I am describing in specific the music I am attracted to.
So this thing has obviously had a good life. This guitar has an “I don’t care” facial tattoo across it’s forehead. It’s been modded with a super nice and hot EMG 81 direct out to the volume knob (how it should be), this pickguard is definitely DIY, and it’s been repainted in that pretty awesome blue sparkle. It also has that epic handpainted knob. Someone is going to see this guitar and it’s going to speak to them in a language they’ve been waiting to hear their whole life. That pickup is insane! Super fast and direct output!
The neck is lightning fast with crazy low action, it plays super light and nimble. I set it up with 9’s to fully embrace the lightness. The whole guitar is crazy lightweight as well, seriously one of the lightest guitars I’ve ever played! Would be really great for tapping heavy music like the band Hikes (who are supremely good). Originally Peavey Kluson tuners are there and are looking shiny and great. So shiny and great right now.
Comes with the original Peavey case! Somewhat rare to see them with these cases, usually they get swapped out at some point. Super killer guitar!
