NOS NIB Matched Pair RCA Black Plate 6V6GT/G. Unlike most supposedly "matched" pairs listed that are at best only measured for conductance on a tube tester, this pair is measured and matched for current draw on the plates under real-world operating conditions of 400 vdc on a Maxi-Matcher, measuring 35.3 & 35.4 mA.
They have black oval plates, gray coated glass, and bottom getters. They have identical construction, though on one the graphite coating goes lower on the glass. This has no effect on function, and is a common variation between production lines. The "6V6GT/G" designation means they are early 6V6GT that were replacing the earlier 6V6G coke bottle version. They are packaged for consumer sale in beautiful original boxes (one has wear on the edges). The one in the "RCA Victor, His Master's Voice" box is dated "Y5" (Sept/Oct 1941), the one in the "Radiotron" box is dated K2E (Jan/Feb 1943). This is an exceptionally fine 6V6 which I had been saving for personal use.   They measure in the high end of normal current range, so it is important to install them with a bias meter if you have a fixed "adjustable" bias amp like a Deluxe Reverb. A Princeton Reverb may require a bias resistor change if it has not been converted to adjustable bias (this is usually the case when replacing 6V6s in a Princeton - the bias adjust pot is a recommended upgrade). The pair should be OK in a cathode bias amp that has the correct value cathode resistor. They measure 104 & 99 for mutual conductance on the TV7-D/U (where 50 is minimum) and 3.27 & 3.34 on the Maxi-Matcher. ***The Buyer Is Responsible For Installing At The Proper Bias Voltage*** Refer to the "Weber Bias Calculator". Shipping charge includes insurance.
