Pierret Super “Artiste”
The Pierret sound is somewhere between the refined elegance of a Selmer Mark VI and the strident, in your face quality of a Conn 10M... depending on how you approach it. This particular Super Artiste is a beautiful example of one of their best horns. It has a huge, unique voice and a gorgeous, vintage "Road Warrior" patina in spite of being in tip-top condition. This horn has the look that will give you “Street Cred” before you even play a note.
It has just received a fresh overhaul. Not just a re-pad... a real overhaul. Fully regulated with all the mechanical parts moving quietly and the pads seating perfectly. In addition a new, stronger, Selmer style neck receiver was professionally installed to ensure that you have many years of a nice tight neck seal. It plays effortlessly from top to bottom ... from a whisper to a paint peeling honk.
Serial numbers for these instruments were assigned starting from 1 for each new model. That means that there is no good way of dating them now. The serial numbers appear on the bell rather than in the usual location and this one is number 1911. Since the Super Artiste was patented in 1953, this horn was likely from somewhere in the mid-1950s
There is no mouthpiece included. The case is a solid, vintage valise style that is still in good shape except for the handle which has been repaired.

Describing Pierret saxophones, Steve Goodson of SaxGourmet.com says...
“They are exceptional instruments, too rarely seen in this country.”
If you have heard of these horns, then you know that they are a great saxophone even if they aren’t widely known here in the USA. Beginning production in 1906, Pierret saxophones were marketed almost exclusively in Europe for most of the life of the company until 1972 when production ceased, however they built a lot of stencil horns for other companies like Olds, Buescher and even Santy Runyon so you may have seen their handiwork without knowing it.
