Couesnon Army 1926 Raw Brass

World-renowned Paris Couesnon trumpets have been sought after by professional musicians for well over one hundred years. Unknown to most collectors, however, Couesnon was more famous in Europe for what the French called "Fanfare Band" trumpets. In the states, we call these bands "Brass Bands" and in France as in the states, these bands were often community sponsored. Because Couesnon was so successful in that market they were the only company to supply horns for the French Army.
Have you ever wondered what sort of trumpets the French Foreign Legion trumpet players used in French West Africa, or French Polynesia. Well, since this horn was made in 1926, as the 26 encircled the pineapple in photo 5 shows, and they played either this trumpet or one just like it.

The horn has no dents but it does have dings here and there and signs that dents have been removed. It has also had some professionally done solder repairs done sometime in the past.
The horn was disassembled, then hydrostatically cleaned. It was reassembled using all new felts, and a new water keypad. The valves were then properly realigned. This 1926 vintage horn now plays beautifully and would make an extra exotic addition to any horn collection.
