Dave Smith Instruments Pro-2This is a really wonderful synth and definitely a sleeper. I’ve played and owned several synths modern and vintage and this thing is an amazing powerhouse. It’s designed to be a mono synth, the predecessor to the famed Pro-1. It can work great as a simple mono synth giving you access to some great easy to use sounds; however, it also can function as a super powerful sound design machine. It comes equipped with more tweaking capabilities than most synths I’ve come across. For instance, it has: -4 oscillators that can be stacked when using monophonically, or can be used paraphonically to play four note chords-a plethora of analog and digital wave shapes -4 LFO’s that can be routed anywhere-5 ADSR envelopes -4 delay lines with separate pan, time, feedback, etc-2 filters (ladder + state variable) that can be used separately or together in series or parallel -2 touch strips that can control any parameter (amazing performance tool)-distortion and character sections-32 note sequencer (each step can modulate all sorts of stuff)-robust arpeggiator-modulation matrix Also, Dave Smith Instruments/Sequential Circuits synths are just layed out so well. Most every function has a dedicated knob which makes the live playing experience so great. There’s very minimal menu diving. And the build quality is outstanding. You can really tell when you get your hands on it, it feels a cut above.This one was mainly used in a home studio and taken care of well. There are a couple scratches from normal use that are documented in the photos. Everything functions perfectly with no issues. This was a desert island synth for me for several years, but it is what it is. Gotta fund other endeavors.
