Used - Fair Condition
There is some slight fretboard separation visible on both sides of the neck from the nut to the first couple of frets, plus the action is a bit high and the neck has a hump in it around the 2nd and 3rd frets causing the first three frets be quite buzzy. The thumbrest is missing.

  • Body: the body has some obvious dings, dents, and chips in the finish that can be seen on the top, back, and sides as well as some easily noticeable surface scratches and scuff marks--moderate to heavy buckle rash can be seen on the back of the body; the thumbrest is missing and the pickguard and neckplate have some light scuff marks and scratches on them
  • Neck, Fretboard, and Headstock: the fretboard has a few very small dings and dents that can be found on it, but these should not affect comfort or playability, plus there is some slight fretboard separation visible on both sides of the fretboard from the nut to the first couple of frets; the back of the neck a medium-sized ding at about the first fret position and several tiny dings down the center, however these should not affect comfort or playability; the headstock has some obvious chips in the finish just before the nut and some smaller chips in the lacquer around the edges as well as few scuff marks and scratches on the front, back, and sides
  • Action and Playability: the action is a bit high and the neck has a hump in it around the 2nd and 3rd frets causing the first three frets be quite buzzy; the truss rod works properly
  • Frets: light to moderate wear
  • Hardware: the tuners show a little bit of wear in the finish, but function properly; the bridge and the knobs show some obvious wear in the finish

Here's another one that is fairly rare and was only in production from 1981 to 1984 (this is one of the earlier models since it does not have the rosewood "skunk" stripe on the neck)! This Hondo Deluxe Series H-830 is an excellent Fender P-Bass copy with the feel and playability very close to the real thing. It sounds pretty close too! There are obviously differences in the construction and materials used on this bass such as a maple veneer body and a X-15 split pickup. If P-Bass tone is what you're after without burning a hole in your wallet, then this Hondo is the option for you!
