This is the best $25 you can spend to protect your mounted tom from snare rash. This ingenious bumper is a replica of a design associated with Fibes in the 60s and 70s. Simply remove the tension rod nearest to the tom, insert the tension rod through the bumper, and reattach the tension rod. This will protect your tom from scratches that can be caused by the snare rim rubbing against the tom. Buy several and put one on each of your snare drums so they are always ready to go.
STEVE’S COMMENTS: NO MORE SNARE RASH on your tom! It's not fun when you look down and see that your snare drum rim has been digging into the beautiful finish on your rack tom. Here is a simple and effective solution. This snare bumper is the simple and cost effective answer to protecting the finish of your rack tom. For the lug closest to your rack tom simply slip the tension rod through the hole in the bumper, re-insert the rod in the lug, and off you go. Simple and permanent protection. The rubber bumpers are angled out slightly as shown in order to provide the proper separation from the metal rim of the snare. In the main pic you will see it "in action" protecting the finish on the 8x12 from my 12/14/18 Pearl Fiberglass kit that was owned by Art Blakey. Well worth the price to protect the tom! If you swap out snares often, pick up several of these and just leave them on your snares so they are ready to go.
