This Squier Vintage Modified Cabronita P Bass a tone of tone into a very affordable package. The "Toaster-Top" Fideli'Tron humbucking pickup drives the front end of your amplifier with plenty of output and thick, round tone. The Vintage Modified Cabronita P Bass is designed to be a blast to play, with a very "Fenderlicious" Modern "C" neck profile that instantly feels like a long-lost old friend.

This bass speaks with a timeless, round, thumping voice. "Under the hood" is Fender's Fideli'Tron Humbucker pickup. It is strategically placed in the middle position to capture the perfect balance deep low end and articulate highs. Being a humbucker, all of that annoying 60 cycle hum is eliminated. I auditioned this bass through a Phil Jones Bass Flight Case amp. If you know of Phil Jones amps, you're already aware that they are relentlessly accurate and clean. They product an exceptionally accurate representation of what presented at the input.

I found this bass to be surprisingly versatile, especially considering that its single pickup design. It is responsive to the player's touch, with notes blooming naturally when played aggressively. Notes did not lose their definition when played lightly. String-to-string balance is good and the neck is free of dead spots. I would be comfortable as taking this bass to play a thrash rock gig as a Jazz Standards cocktail engagement. Well done!

The neck on this bass is pure P-Bass. The 1-5/8" nut width and 34" scale length feel immediately at home to anyone used to playing one of Leo's earlier incarnations. Controls are direct and to the point, with single volume and tone. Of note is the upgraded HiMass die-cast bridge. This bridge is far more solid than its stamped pot metal cousins and directs all of the string energy to the basswood body. This specific example is comfortable light for a solid-body bass, weighing only 8 lb, 13 oz.
