Collectors! Only 1 on the planet. Handbuilt Hydra Preseli Bluestone top (from Stonehenge quarry)

Today I offer you something very special.
I started building this guitar in 2010 and I finished it in 2013.
Built it from scratch without using any CNC machines.
It is a gorgonized Hydra model with a real Preseli Bluestone top.
By the way - this is the same stone from the same quarry where the monoliths of Stonehenge were mined.

YES! The top is made of genuine Preseli Bluestone with 7mm (0.28 inch).
I started experimenting with real stone top guitars in 2007 and in 2010 I got a phone call from a guy named Dr. Colin R. Shearing.
He lived near the area (Pembrokeshire) where the stone for the Stonehenge monoliths were mined and he always was fascinated by that mystic stone.
After discussing the possibility to build a guitar with a real Preseli Bluestone top, Colin sent one block to a stonemason in Italy.
Those specialist cut the stone so he got one tile that witch 7mm thickness.
He applied a fiberglass mesh backing with epoxy and sent that tile to me in Germany.
I took it to company that does water cut jobs and they cut it into the shape of a Hydra guitar.
I have built a chambered body of 40 Years old Mahogany with a glued in neck that was made of stripes of Bird´s Eye Maple, Quilted Maple, Mahogany and Purple-Heart. The fretboard is made of Lacewood and the frets have a mixed fret system with 2.8mm frets from 1 to 12 and 2.3mm frets from 13 to 24.
I have installed a set of Kammerstein Z2 humbuckers.
The controls are one master volume, one master tone and a split shift potentiometer that seamless splits each humbucker into a real singlecoil.
A very versatile type of control.
By the way: I have made the knobs of Mahogany and layed in Black Onyx Gems as markers.
The neck has illuminated side dots.
After 3 Years the Stonehenge-Hydra was finished and it sounds incredible.
The Stonetop-Hydra has a top that is 7mm and so the weight is 9.9 pounds.
That is OK since the guitar is perfectly balanced at the strap.
I kept designing and building guitars with real 5mm stone top and meanwhile they only have around 7.9 pounds.
But I will no more build another guitar with Preseli Bluestone because this Year Colin died and he was my source for that fantastic stone.
I kept that guitar in my showroom at home for all that time but now I want to offer it to somebody who makes good use of it.
The Stonehenge-Hydra comes inside a very stable hard case and with certificate.
The sound is amazing and the guitar is so versatile.
Long before Colin died, he built a small website with information about the Stonehenge-Hydra.
That site still is online and you can find a lot of information about the project and the powerful stone on it.
