Ernie Ball/Music Man makes a very cool instrument that can be set up either as a six-string bass (ala a Fender Bass VI, meaning it’s tuned E to E, each string an octave below a guitar) or as a baritone guitar (usually tuned A to A). Around 2000, EB/MM entered a licensing agreement for some of their models, including the Stingray Bass and Silhouette guitars, with OLP (Officially Licensed Products). They also put out a version of the Silhouette Bass, which they called the MM5 (it should have been the MM6, since there’s six strings, right?).

I have this set up as a Bass VI (E to E). Not only can you play bass on it (John Lennon played bass on half of the Let It Be album on a Fender Bass VI), but it is also very cool to play chords on the top three strings. If you wanted, you could easily set it up as a baritone guitar instead.

The only reason I’m letting this instrument go is that I ended up getting a Fender Bass VI. I may ways I prefer the sleek, modern look of the Music Man style OLP. But I can’t justify keeping both.

It’s in very good condition. The only thing to really point out about its condition is that the back, bottom edge of the body has some wear (examine the pics).

Does not, unfortunately, come with a case.
