Here for sale is a one humbucker Silvertone Rhythm Tone made by Valco in Chicago sometime around 1958. This is one of my favorite guitars I have ever had, it is a great player. Maybe the best playing vintage guitar I have ever held, and it looks like something out of Jack White's wildest fantasies.
The action is super low and comfortable. The neck reminds me of some modern LPs I have played. There is no real damage to speak of other than some wear and some of the black pinstriping being worn off the plastic and some "thumb wear" on the neck, but to me, this just adds to the relic and makes this thing even more mean looking.
The pickup sounds great, a kind of vintage warmth you can't get in a modern humbucker! The tuners are the only thing that is not stock. They are 1980s gold Gotoh style modern tuners, so that is essentially an upgrade. Those will hold tune better than the originals.
I really can't think of a single downside on this guitar, but shoot me your questions if you have them. In all honesty, I am not really wanting to sell it. If I didn't have so much invested in it, I don't think that I would, so lowball offers will not be entertained on this listing. You are going to have to sweet talk me to get thing out of my mitts!
As always, I cleaned it up, polished the finish, lemon oiled the board, flushed the electronics, changed the strings and set the action as low as I could. This guitar is proudly strung with Stringjoy Custom Guitar Strings, made right here in Nashville, TN.
This guitar comes with the original case, but it has seen better days. The bottom of the case is coming loose, but it should help protect it in shipping and the latches and all work. Additionally, I pack my guitars up tight and insure every package for the full sale amount, so you can buy with confidence.
Seriously, no BS, this is absolutely one of the nicest guitars I have ever had in my shop!
Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gearheads!
