The EPI bass guitar or EB-S was manufactured between 1961 and 1969; and the Eastwood Newport bass takes its inspiration from the middle year, 1965.
1964-1966 were the peak years for Newport and this is the popular version. Our tribute version stays true to the original: mahogany body, mahogany set (glued-in) neck with a rosewood fretboard.
This combination of woods, pickup, and construction gives the Newport a distinctive deep, rich tone, but brighter snarlier tones are possible when played down by the bridge, rather than over the pickup. The short scale and light weight make for a very playable instrument and very popular with guitar players.
