PEAVEY TL-5 ONE OF A KIND! New Price! This was the prototype for the second gen TL-5. I got it as a replacement for a first gen that had a problem with 60 cycle hum. I was told this bass had the new low impedence electronics that cured the noise problem. This was the only new gen model Peavey had, and it was sent to me after it was passed around to the hottest players of the day at the NAM show. The feature that makes it unique is a rectangular opening in the plastic cover plate on the back of the bass over the electronic circuitry. Inside is a row of mini dip switches that change the centering points for the midrange and treble controls. I was told that the settings preferred by most of the players at NAM were used in production models. I played this TL-5 for more than 10 years in bands and projects with The Funky Drummer, Clyde Stubblefield...also one of a kind! UPDATE PICS ADDED. What doesn't show in the pics is the wood grain that shows through the finish. The purple tone shows up under stage lighting. There are a couple areas where the finish was worn dull: the tip of the lower horn, and the back of the upper horn. Also, the case is broken in a couple places (thanks, roadies!). Plays and sounds GREAT!
