Auditronics 501 IME 1970s - 22 Channels

Auditronics 501 IME "Son Of Gram" recording studio console from the mid 1970s. A rare piece of equipment. This console has had an exciting life and still has plenty of life left in it. Made famous by the band Boston when they used this console to create their first album. This boards highlights are its all Inductance equalizers and Jensen Mic Transformers which you can see in the pictures on one the channels I pulled.

The console came to me through an engineer from IBM in Virginia. The wiring is not 100% correct. The board was gutted but fortunately the engineer from Virginia did most of the work putting it back together. The original patchbay was also lost but replaced with another patchbay. The console came to me with 16 channels and I have collected/restored to a total of 22 channel strips that are all included in the sale. I also have replaced all the lights, fixed the meters and had the arm wrest re-upholstered in red. Sold as is; You will have to do some wiring if you want to make it 100% functional to the 1970's spec!

I have attached heavy duty metal computer monitor mounts to the console and will include them in the sale. The sale also includes the powersupply unit and custom molex cabling I made to use the interface with a 1/4" TRS rack. I have owned this console for the past ten years and have had a lot of fun using it. I was using the unit with an Apollo 16 from Universal Audio and it was great but I no longer have room for it and have to sell. 

Shipping this item will consist of striping the console down to each component, bubble wrapping and boxing them. They will ship out separate in multiple boxes. The chassis will be much lighter this way and easier/cheaper to package and ship. The chassis will need to also be bubble wrapped and placed into a custom made crate. It will be sent via freight from UPS or Fedex.
