Conklin USA Custom 7 String Sidewinder 36 Fret Bass, Black Ziracote
Conklin USA Custom Shop 7 String 36 Fret Sidewinder Bass
A chance to own a rare Magnificent USA Bill Conklin Custom 3-octave neck 36 fret bass at about 1/3rd the cost!
Luthier set-up and newly strung with Conklin Sidewinders, the action is so low and smooth it plays easier than many guitars. Utterly effortless to play, there’s not a thing it needs done. I’m only selling it because I have 4 other Conks and need a down payment on a new double-neck custom I want Bill Conklin to build.
A "custom to this bass" electronic package allows you to turn on and off individual string sets and mix and blend the piezos and the Ultra High Output One-off Bartolini Magnetic in any form possible. You can get a range from thundering grunge to utterly obnoxious treble funk and anything in between. Twin outputs allow for two cords out splitting the piezo and magnetic or a single cord with a blend. The electronics are as versatile as the bass is beautiful. If you want to play with harmonics you can shut off the bass strings and vice versa. I'll add more later or ask me. Ive uploaded a diagram so see all the pix!
The condition could actually be "Mint-Minus". Only issues are a tiny bit of removable oxidation on the bridge saddles, a tiny bit on the black chrome bridge itself and a couple of ball point pen tip sized spots on the heads of the truss rods, all since protectively oiled. PERFECT playing condition! There is a slight bit of rust on the bolts holding the pick-up, but I may have those replaced by the time it sells, they are on order. Not a ding or scratch on it. Gotoh tuners of course. Hardware is black chrome also in perfect condition, the white flecks on the knobs in the pictures aren’t wear, they are lighting glints.
I have the bass strung from a low F# to a high C#. The low B and F# sharp shake and ring like a 9 foot gland piano string. Sustain is measured in minutes not seconds, the bass is a rock solid 12 pounds or better and functions like a soundboard. I'ts the most amazing bass I’ve ever owned, but Bill Conklins custom stuff is all like that. If you prefer I can re-string from a LOW B and give you a higher string but I think once you feel the earth shake with that .150 low F# you’ll be as hooked as I was.
