Here's an early 1970s Ventura V-25 dreadnought guitar distributed by Bruno (C. Bruno & Sons) out of New York. I don't know which Japanese factory made it but internet speculation claims Matsumoku and even Takamine. Either is possible. It is very similar to the Takamine F360s (Martin D28 copy) - - solid spruce top, laminated rosewood sides and back, and very "Martinish" in appearance. This guitar is in excellent condition with only some light surface scratches and a few small dings. Because this was a quality build after 40+years there is no bow or sinkage in the top and no cracks or separations anywhere. I've sanded, re-crowned, and buffed the frets and there is plenty of fret left (pics 13 & 14). The back of the neck is pristine, the rosewood fingerboard shows little to no sign of wear, the truss rod works as it should, and the tuning gears turn smoothly. I've restrung the guitar with D'Addario light phosphor bronze strings and have done all the necessary adjustments. It is easy to play with low action all the way up the fingerboard with no buzzing issues. and the sound is large. Considering Takamine F360s guitars are going for up to $1000 this lesser known but rarer brand is a bargain at $350 (and this Ventura has highly figured BRAZILIAN rosewood laminate whereas Takamine used Indian rosewood laminate). A featherweight hard shell case is included. Together they make a light package.
