Up for sale is a 1987 Guild GF30 built in Westerly, Rhode Island.  The GF stands for "grand folk" and the 30 indicates that it is a Flame Maple Archback series acoustic. This model was introduced during the George Gruhn and Kim Walker Guild Era, and it predates the JF30 model. They were built from 1987-1993 with a total of 845 made. This first year model(87) is in very good condition but for some weather checking, and various dings, dents, swirls, and scratches.
The body style is grand concert, or mini jumbo. It has a 16 inch wide lower bout, and a slim waist line that really gives this model a unique voice of it's own. The top is Sitka Spruce. The back and sides are Flame Maple, with some nice figure in the wood. The fretboard and bridge are rosewood. The body binding is in excellent condition with little to no ware and does not have any cracks or unglued pieces. The action is set up very low making it a joy to play. The saddle is still at a healthy height with room to spare for future string height adjustments. This guitar still has tons of neck relief left with almost no tension on the truss rod. So this GF30 is no where near a neck reset. The fretboard has some minor ware in the second and third frets on the B and E strings. The pickup sounds incredible and works properly. I normally prefer to hear my guilds unplugged, but when i heard this GF30 plugged in, it sounded incredible and is very close to the pure acoustic sound that is so hard to get to come through an amp.
The chrome Grover Rotomatics show little to no ware and all work properly. The bridge is securely glued down tight where a piece of paper can not get under it from any side. There is a light blemish above the second fret on the bass string side where someone's thumb has been resting there long enough to discolor the finish. Someone has logged a ton of hours on this guitar and it has the sound quality to prove it. The spruce top has really mellowed out over the years and it's sound has been fully unlocked. The hardshell case shows heavy signs of ware on the outside. All the latches and the handle work properly, and the inside is in great condition with no odors.
Here is your chance to own a wonderful vintage guild with incredible play ability and low action. This guitar is good to go right out of the box and needs nothing. This model does not come up for sale often. The last time i had one of these, it sold in the first few days of being publicly listed, so act fast, and don't let this one slip away.
I have several other guild acoustics for sale that are listed in my reverb shop, and on other online marketplaces. I prefer to make deals privately through Paypal to save me and the buyer money. I am always looking to buy more guilds if you have something you want to sell. Please message me with all questions, requests, and offers. Thanks for checking out my listing. You will not be disappointed with this one.
