Up for sale is a Westerly Rhode Island Guild F47ce built in the year 2000. The CE stands for cutaway electric. This guild is in excellent condition, and has not seen much time outside it's case. These grand concert style jumbos come with a AA sitka spruce top, with scalloped bracing. The back and sides are solid Mohageny with some nice flame figure in the wood. The neck is also Mahogany and shows very little sign of ware. The fretboard and bridge are both Rosewood. The block inlays are mother of pearl, and the headstock has mother of pearl inlays.
The body binding is in great shape but for a couple of common binding cracks around the fretboard. The binding still looks new and white. It has aged very little. Normally by this age, the binding turns a creamy yellow color, and can begin to peel, crack, or come unglued, but this guitar doesn't have those major issues. The top is also still very light blonde and has not aged very much because it has not spent much time outside the case. The top is almost flawless but for some light swirling and pickguard marks. There is on small ding below the bridge, treble side, about the size of a pencil tip. There are two very hard to see half inch weather checks beside the pickguard, next to the cutaway. I can send more detailed pics upon request. The rest of the guitar's nitro finish is excellent, with no weather checks that I can find. At some point, the guitar hung on a wall mount hanger that was not the correct material to be used, and so the guitar has a blemish on each side of neck just below the high e and low e tuners. I didn't even notice them until the third time i picked the guitar up to play it. Your hand does not come in contact with the blemishes while playing. The Grover tuners are all in great shape with very little ware. The guitar has a healthy saddle height, and the action is nice and low already, so there will be no need to shave down the saddle for some time. The play ability is excellent all the way up the neck with no string buzz. The fretboard shows little to no ware, and the metal frets on the b string show a very minor amount of ware. The built in Fishman pickup system works great and has tons of EQ and blending features for the mic and saddle pick ups that were built in from the factory. It comes with a deluxe 6 latch guild case that is in excellent condition with all latches and the handle working properly. There is one small scratch that is noticable on the lower bout treble side that i included a picture of near the end.
This model guild holds a special place in my heart because 20 years ago I was working in my local hometown music store when these guilds were bought back to market in the late 1990s. We were a guild dealership, so we had all the best westerly guilds in stock, and I got to play them all daily before deciding to pick out my first Guild to buy for myself. I was 18 years old, and at the time, I had only bought some fender and takamine guitars for under 500. So spending over a thousand dollars on a guitar while making near minimum wage, was a huge deal for me, and I had to save up for about a year to buy it. I chose the F47ce as my first Guild, and I have been lucky enough to hold on to it all these years. Like my personal F47, this is another great F47. This model was not mass produced and you will not find these for sale very often from the Westerly plant. Most of the time, when you see these come up for sale, they were built in the Corona, California plant. Guild was bought by Fender in the mid 1990s and they decided to move the business cross country in 2002. They were in a transition phase during the corona years, and they were training all the new workers on how to build Guild guitars, so they had several issues that you can read about in a google search or on letstalk guild.
Don't miss this chance to own a Westerly built F47ce in this great of condition. This guitar will not disappoint every the most picky guitar collector. I have several other guild acoustics for sale and have many more new arrivals coming in soon. I should have 8-9 vintage guilds listed soon. Please message me with any questions, requests, or offers. Thanks for looking!!
